Dr. Paolo Mazzonetto
Psychologist & Clinical Director
Dr. Paolo Mazzonetto directs the Centre and treats a wide variety of problems in children, teens, emerging adults, adults and families and has been working consistently, helping clients with a wide variety of difficulties including low mood and depression, stress management, worrying and anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, learning difficulties, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), as well as bullying and/or self-esteem issues. Paolo also conducts thorough psycho-educational assessments on children and teens.
He also has particular research and clinical expertise in the diagnosis of Adult ADHD and teaches a variety of strategies to these adults to address difficulties they may be encountering in areas such as procrastination, organization, motivation and concentration. Paolo leads groups for children and teens with ADHD at our Centre as well as parenting workshops for parents of children with ADHD.
Paolo uses evidence-based treatment with his clients. He primarily uses a combined approach, integrating Humanistic Psychology and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) with practical solution-focused techniques. He is kind and empathetic towards his client’s needs. Paolo works hard to ensure a comfortable atmosphere for his clients to express themselves openly.
Dr. Mazzonetto also supervises psychology students at different levels, and genuinely enjoys assisting Master’s and Doctoral level students learn and grow, in an effort to better help our community.
Dr. Mazzonetto earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Medaille College in Buffalo, New York and did his Doctoral Psychology Internship at West Niagara Psychology Centre. Over the past 10 years, Paolo has held clinical positions at The Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK) in Milton, Pathstone Mental Health in Thorold, and the Medaille Family Counselling Center (MFCC) in Buffalo, New York.
Dr. Mazzonetto is a member of the CPBAO, OPA, CACBT, CADDRA, and CSCH-OD.
