Do you act impulsively when you’re upset?
Do you frequently experience feelings of rejection or shame?
You’re not alone – our DBT-Informed Skills Group may be just what you need!
About the DBT-Informed Skills Group:
This 13-week group meets weekly and focuses on building practical skills to help you manage intense emotions and improve your well-being. The group offers a supportive environment where you can connect with others, share experiences, and learn effective coping strategies. You’ll also have the opportunity to practice these skills between sessions, empowering you to use them when facing distressing situations.
The DBT-informed Skills You Will Learn fall into these categories:
- Emotion Regulation: Learn to understand and manage intense emotions, reducing their impact on your life by recognizing triggers and using healthy coping tools.
- Distress Tolerance: Develop the ability to handle challenging situations and emotions without becoming overwhelmed, avoiding harmful reactions, or resorting to unhealthy coping mechanisms.
- Mindfulness: Cultivate the ability to live in the present moment without judgment, reducing the tendency to ruminate on the past or worry about the future. Learn to accept yourself and your emotions as they are.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness: Build the skills to communicate effectively in relationships, ensuring you express yourself assertively while maintaining healthy boundaries and self-respect.

What is DBT?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was developed in the late 1980s by Dr. Marsha Linehan. Research has shown that DBT significantly improves emotional regulation, impulse control, mood management, trauma recovery, and reduces suicidal or self-injurious behaviors.
A comprehensive DBT program includes a weekly skills group and individual therapy sessions, as well as access to a 24/7 phone coaching service outside of session and a DBT consultation team to support the clinicians offering this service. While our DBT-Informed Skills Group is a standalone service, participants are expected and encouraged to also engage in weekly therapy, either at our center or in the community, for further assistance with their personal challenges, urges and emotions.
